CODE AAPI App

Role: College Project

Design Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Overview: Ever since the pandemic, there has been a massive increase in Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) related hate crimes. Unfortunately, many of these crimes go unheard of, leaving the aggressor unaccounted for. In response, I designed an app called, Code: AAPI, that allows people in the AAPI community to instantly report an AAPI related hate crime, or positive accomplishments happening throughout the community to ensure maximum exposure on the media

Design Process

The inspiration of my app is from NextShark, also giving the latest news regarding the Asian-American community. I implemented additional functionality to Code: AAPI such as an emergency feature, so users can get immediate help in addition to news on the AAPI community, similar to Citizen. The interface of my app is easy to follow to enable users to quickly navigate through the app and find the resources they need in an event of an emergency. Some pain points that my beta testers noted were the specification of certain functions within the app. I troubleshooted this by implementing pop-ups to signify the purpose and transparency of certain navigations/features within the app.
