Passion Guidebook

Design Overview

Problem: The task was to create a visual passion guidebook and an app. I chose the topic of boba teas, specifically my recommended locations within Convoy, San Diego, CA. Consideration of typographic nuances are skillfully incorporated to reach an audience persona of college students and young adults.

Solution: My guidebook, “Boba Hotspots in Convoy”, has a mixture of real-life photography and digitalized graphic elements. This allows the book to appear eye-catching to the audience so they will want to engage with the contents. My long-term goal from creating this book is for it to serve as a helpful guide whenever people are craving for good boba tea places within Convoy.

Design Process

A challenge of mine during this project was to maintain a consistent design system throughout my book. I worked through this by creating a moodboard that compiles a bunch of boba shop websites and mobile layouts for inspiration. From there, I traced out poppy shapes icons in Adobe Illustrator, then tweaked them to match my overall aesthetic.

Mobile App

In addition to the passion guidebook, the second component is to make an app to further enhance the user experience. The app, “Boba Hotspots in San Diego”, is made in Adobe XD and is inspired by Yelp. Users can make purchases, gain rewards, and review various boba shop locations within San Diego, California.
